Product Owner

Farragut is searching for an experienced Product Owner to contribute within its Workers Compensation Division. It is a strategic position reporting directly to division VP. We are looking for an aspiring leader who wants to make a significant long-term impact on the industry. Farragut will invest in this leader's growth as per our culture.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  1. In-depth understanding of the insurance business domain, preferably in workers' compensation.
  2. Keen sense of what provides value to the stakeholder both short- and long-term.
  3. Strategic thinking skills to understand, clarify, and articulate the stakeholder's vision.
  4. Decisiveness, wisdom, balance and composure to create and maintain a prioritized productbacklog--judgment and courage to make the right decisions on priority and align the stakeholders.
  5. Strong relationship, influence and facilitation skills to:
    1. Serve as the voice of the end-users and the customer-executives.
    2. Win stakeholder's trust and confidence to make the right decisions on their behalf.
    3. Align Farragut's cross-functional team to the stakeholder's vision.
    4. Create a win-win partnership with the Scrum Master.
    5. Understand the team's passion and capacity to implement while balancing stakeholder value with the team's needs.
  6. Ability to demonstrate "Economic Business Value" to the stakeholders in every release

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a shared understanding of product vision with customer and internal stakeholders. Define measurable business-outcomes to fulfill the vision. Create alignment among diverse stakeholders on shared-vision and the specific business-outcomes to achieve it.
  • Build a ready, prioritized, and sized product-backlog. Reevaluate and adjust priorities after reviewing delivery of each Sprint with the stakeholders.
  • Manage stakeholder communication throughout the project life-cycle.
  • Work closely with project manager to develop and/or manage Project Budgets, Schedule, and Quality.
  • Proactively escalate any risks to scope, schedule, or quality to the leadership team.
  • Facilitate customer acceptance of new features/enhancements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in the insurance industry (preferably handling Workers' Comp)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Basic experience with analytical tools (e.g. spreadsheet, word processing, database)
  • Ability to work extended and irregular hours when needed
  • Follows detailed procedures and ensures accuracy in documentation and data
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Compensation & Benefits:

The salary for this position is determined based on candidate's previous work experience, current technical abilities and market salary information.
